Hyundai Motor India is all set to launch the electric version of its popular SUV, the Hyundai Creta EV, in 2025. The company will unveil the car at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025, showcasing its plans to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
Hyundai Creta EV: A New Electric SUV for India
The Hyundai Creta has been one of the best-selling SUVs in India. Now, Hyundai aims to bring the Creta EV, which will be an electric version of this popular model. The electric vehicle market in India is growing fast, with many new cars hitting the roads, especially in the SUV segment. SUVs are currently the most popular body type for EVs in India, and the Creta is one of the leading names in this category.
Hyundai has big plans to expand its electric vehicle range. The company believes that launching an electric version of the Creta will attract many new customers and compete strongly against other EVs, such as the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. Hyundai hopes that the Creta EV will bring in more sales than its previous electric model, the Kona Electric.
Design of the Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta EV will look very similar to the regular Creta SUV. It will be built on a new version of the same platform used for the regular Creta. However, the Creta EV will have some changes to make it look more like an electric vehicle.
- Front Design: The Creta EV will have a closed front face instead of the usual radiator grille. This is a common feature in many EVs, as they do not need large air intakes.
- Headlights and DRLs: The headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs) will remain the same as the regular Creta.
- Wheels: The Creta EV will have new, more aerodynamic alloy wheels to help improve its driving range.
Hyundai Creta EV: Expected Specifications
While Hyundai has not yet revealed all the details, we can expect the Creta EV to come with two battery options. These options could be similar to those in the Tata Curvv EV, one of its main competitors. The Curvv EV offers two battery options: a 45 kWh battery for a range of 430 km, and a 55 kWh battery for a range of 502 km.
It is expected that the Creta EV will offer similar range options, with the larger battery providing a range of up to 500 km on a single charge.
Interior of the Hyundai Creta EV
The Creta EV will be positioned as a more premium offering compared to the regular Creta. This means the interior will be more luxurious, with high-quality materials used throughout.
- Eco-Friendly Cabin: The cabin of the Creta EV will feature eco-friendly materials, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is another electric car from Hyundai.
- Tech Features: The Creta EV will have a modern dual-screen setup on the dashboard, similar to the regular Creta. It will also come with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and more. A 360-degree surround-view camera will also be included to help with parking and driving in tight spaces.
Price and Rivals
The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be priced above ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It will compete with other electric SUVs in the market, such as:
- Tata Curvv EV
- MG ZS EV
- The upcoming Mahindra BE 6e
- The Honda Elevate EV
The Hyundai Creta EV will be a key player in the growing electric vehicle market in India. With its stylish design, eco-friendly cabin, and long driving range, it is expected to attract many customers looking for a practical and premium electric SUV. The launch of the Creta EV in 2025 will mark a big step for Hyundai in India’s electric vehicle journey, and it will definitely be a car to watch out for.
