Popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani recently appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in connection with the controversy surrounding the YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
What is the Controversy?
The issue began when Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) made an inappropriate comment on India’s Got Latent, a comedy show hosted by Samay Raina. The remarks sparked public outrage and legal action.
The NCW took serious note of the vulgar comments made on the show and summoned several YouTubers, including:
- Ashish Chanchlani
- Ranveer Allahbadia
- Samay Raina
- Jaspreet Singh
- Apoorva Makhija
- Tushar Poojari
- Saurabh Bothra
Ashish Chanchlani’s Response
Chanchlani was first summoned on February 17, but he requested a reschedule due to health reasons. His lawyers have argued that he did not make any controversial statements and should not be held responsible for the remarks made by others on the show.

Legal Actions Taken
- Chanchlani filed a petition in the Supreme Court to dismiss the case or transfer it to Mumbai after an FIR was filed in Guwahati.
- On February 27, he was questioned by the Guwahati Police regarding the case.
- The Gauhati High Court granted him interim bail on February 18, directing him to cooperate with the investigation.
- The case was registered under various laws, including the IT Act, Cinematograph Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
What Happens Next?
With investigations still ongoing, Chanchlani and other YouTubers involved will have to continue cooperating with authorities. The controversy has sparked debates about responsibility in online content and how comedians and influencers should be held accountable for their remarks.
