Tamannaah Bhatia has shared her thoughts on the ongoing debate about the North-South divide in the Indian film industry. The actress believes that it is high time for the industry to move past these differences and embrace the idea of pan-India cinema. According to Tamannaah, focusing on the divide only causes more confusion and conflict.

Speaking at the Sahitya Aajtak 2024 session, Tamannaah highlighted that actors often get blamed for adding fuel to this debate. However, she believes that both the North and South film industries should come together to make true pan-India films. “It’s high time we stop creating differences in our own industry,” Tamannaah said. “Both industries should unite and work on films that represent all of India. Playing against each other has only caused more havoc.”

Tamannaah added that instead of focusing on the divide, the industry should think about how to take Indian films to a global level. “We are at a beautiful phase where people are looking up to us even internationally,” she explained. “The South and North barrier should be dropped. Movies are a collective art form, and there’s no formula for success that works in one industry and not the other.”

Avinash Tiwary, her co-star in Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, also shared his views. He believes that the regional divide should be erased, and the film industry should be referred to as the Indian film industry, not divided into South or Hindi films. He emphasized that the focus should be on the cultural influence of films instead of regional labels.

On the work front, Tamannaah is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller Sikandar Ka Muqaddar. The film, directed by Neeraj Pandey, also stars Avinash Tiwary, Jimmy Shergill, Divya Dutta, and Zoya Afroz. The movie revolves around a 2008 diamond heist and follows three main characters—played by Tamannaah, Avinash, and Rajiv Mehta. Jimmy Shergill portrays the investigating officer. Sikandar Ka Muqaddar will be released on Netflix on November 29.
