Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan recently received his long-awaited engineering degree from DY Patil University in Mumbai, over ten years after starting his course. The actor took to Instagram on Saturday to share a heartfelt video of his convocation, where he celebrated with students, teachers, and fans in a memorable return to his alma mater.
Kartik Gets His Degree
In the video, Kartik expressed his excitement and gratitude, saying, “From sitting in the backbench to standing on the stage for my convocation – what a journey it’s been.” He thanked DY Patil University, his teachers, and the students, adding, “This feels like coming home.”
Wearing a custom college jacket with his name on it, Kartik addressed an auditorium filled with cheering students. The highlight of the day was his lively dance performance to the title track of his film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
The video also showed Kartik walking around the campus, reminiscing about his college days. He greeted his teachers warmly, signed the college board, and interacted with students who showered him with love and admiration. One emotional moment in the clip captured a fan crying in excitement upon meeting the actor.
“I used to put water here, just like a water boy,” Kartik said at one point in the video, pointing to a spot on campus, reflecting on his time as a student before his Bollywood career began.
From Engineer to Bollywood Star
Kartik was pursuing engineering when he got his big break in Bollywood with Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama in 2011. Since then, he has become one of the most popular actors in the industry, delivering box-office hits and winning hearts with his relatable charm.

The actor had a successful 2023 with films like Chandu Champion and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the latter earning over ₹250 crore at the Indian box office. In the film, Kartik reprised his beloved role as Rooh Baba, alongside stars like Madhuri Dixit and Rajpal Yadav.
Fans are now eagerly waiting for his next big project, an untitled musical love story by Anurag Basu, where Kartik sports a new look with long hair and a heavy beard. The film also stars Triptii Dimri and is being kept under wraps. Additionally, Kartik will headline Tu Meri Main Tera, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
