Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s fun and playful friendship was a highlight during the promotions of their 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The two stars shared many candid moments, but one particular revelation from Ranbir left everyone surprised.
While chatting on Mastiii during the film’s promotions, Ranbir called Anushka the “champion” of friend-zoning people. He even revealed that one of their actor friends fell in love with Anushka, but she rejected him and kept the relationship strictly platonic.
Ranbir hinted at the identity of the actor, saying, “Main sirf yeh bol dunga, uska bhi surname Kapoor hai” (“I’ll just say, his surname is also Kapoor”). The confession left Anushka surprised, but she explained her perspective on friendships.
Anushka’s Take on Friendships
Anushka shared that her upbringing in an army household shaped her view of friendships. Her father was in the army, and she grew up playing and bonding with both boys and girls without any gender bias. She said, “For me, friendships were never about gender. It was just natural to play and hang out with everyone.”
Ranbir jokingly added that sometimes boys misunderstood this friendly behavior and fell for her. He recalled that Anushka’s friend declared his love for her, but she maintained that they were just friends.
Their Personal Lives
On the personal front, Anushka Sharma married Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in December 2017 in a private ceremony in Italy. The couple has two children—daughter Vamika, born in January 2021, and a son, Akaay Kohli, born in February 2024. They mostly reside in London and enjoy a private life as parents.
Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, is married to actress Alia Bhatt. The couple tied the knot in April 2022 and welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, in November 2022.
