Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently criticized the Congress party and other opposition groups on several issues during his speech at the Hindustan Divya Mahakumbh 2025 conclave in Lucknow. He spoke about topics such as the country’s legacy, the Ram Temple, and a proposed no-confidence motion against Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

In his speech, Adityanath targeted those who had ruled the country for decades without making significant progress. He pointed out that these leaders were now criticizing the current government for its success.

“They are troubled by how Kashi Vishwanath Dham was transformed. They are troubled by how Ram Mandir was built and how Ayodhya became so divine and grand,” Adityanath said. “They are troubled because they ruled for so many years but did nothing. Their frustration comes from their own failure and our success. We must understand their mentality,” he added.

Adityanath also spoke about the book Discovery of India, written by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He criticized some individuals who, according to him, treat the book as if it were the oldest and most important text in the country. “Some people wander around with a self-proclaimed contract of representing India and treat Discovery of India as if it were the oldest book of this country,” he said.

The Chief Minister also touched on the historic Supreme Court ruling on the Ram Janmabhoomi case. The court’s decision on November 9, 2019, ended a long-running dispute. However, Adityanath pointed out that some people continue to threaten the judges who made the decision. He added, “These are the same people who do hypocrisy in the name of the Constitution.”

Adityanath also took aim at those proposing a no-confidence motion against Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is both the Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He criticized these people for attempting to undermine Dhankhar’s authority, calling it an attack on the democratic process.

Finally, Adityanath spoke about the upcoming Prayagraj Mahakumbh, which is expected to draw 40 crore (400 million) devotees. He announced that preparations are being made to accommodate even more people, with arrangements for up to 100 crore (one billion) visitors. The event, which runs from January 13 to February 26, 2025, is expected to see a large number of people taking a holy dip, especially on January 29, during the main Muhurta of Mauni Amavasya. Adityanath mentioned that while 6 crore (60 million) devotees are expected on that day, arrangements are being made for 10 crore (100 million) people.

Through his speech, Yogi Adityanath emphasized the achievements of the current government and took aim at those who he believes failed to deliver during their time in power.
