Shalini Pandey, known for her role in the film Maharaj, has shared her experience shooting a difficult scene with co-star Jaideep Ahlawat.
Shalini Pandey’s character Kishori faces sexual exploitation by Jaideep Ahlawat’s character, a religious guru, in the film Maharaj. The actress recently talked about how this scene affected her emotionally. She admitted feeling anxious after filming the scene and needed time outdoors to calm down.
The actress explained in an interview that the scene, where her character participates in ‘charan seva’ (service to the guru), made her realize the impact only after shooting it. She felt unsettled and expressed her discomfort to her team immediately afterward.

Shalini praised her director Siddharth P Malhotra and co-star Jaideep Ahlawat for understanding her feelings during such intense scenes. She also reflected on her character’s mindset, describing Kishori as initially naive and conditioned to accept the exploitation as a form of blessing.
Maharaj, which also stars Junaid Khan, faced controversies before its release but received praise for its realistic portrayal and strong storytelling. The film is based on the historical Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, marking Junaid Khan’s debut in acting.
